Gauntlet Hair - Top Bunk

Terror Visions (Jay Reatard) - World Of Shit

Terror Visions, originally named "Endless Tunnel", started as a creative outlet for Jay Reatard to record songs he didn't see fit for his other music projects. Terror Visions was formed in 2002 by Jay and Aaron. Soon after, a third member, Jackson, was added. While Terror Visions did recordings over a four year span, the band only played one live show.
The first Terror Visions release was a CDR titled "Endless Tunnel" on Jay's own label Shattered Records. The CDR was limited to 100 copies. In 2007 all of the tracks from this CDR as well as six more were compiled onto the bands first proper release: "World of Shit" on FDH Records (FDH #71). This record was a picture disc LP limited to 1000 copies and a CD featuring two bonus tracks. The CD tracks would later see their vinyl debut on the "Bleed in America" 7", limited to 300 copies. It was released by two Italian labels: Disordered Records & Lo-Fi Records.
This new re-issue (on 180 gram black wax) compiles all of the tracks from the three releases, as well as two songs that have never previously been released. You can pre-order the new LP through FDH Records which is set to be officially released on December 6. With pre-orders made before October 15, a giveaway drawing was held. Prizes included gift certificates to FDH Records, test-pressings (Limited to 10), FDH records, and TV magnets.

Cassette Tape Resurgence

Austin, Texas will soon welcome Teflon Beast Records, an all cassette tape label. TBR was founded by Jeff Daily, his wife Keegan and his brother Chris in August 2011 as an outlet for their own music and music by their uniquely talented friends. After years of disappointment with CDs and the price of vinyl manufacturing too high to justify pressings in the current economy, the decision was made to go back to the medium of their youths, tape. The physicality, division of sides, and ability to contain music from a few minutes to a few hours in length make cassettes the ideal format for releasing the varied styles of music that TBR represents. All TBR tapes are handcrafted art objects as well as great pieces of music to be enjoyed by all

From folk to noise to pop they will be catering to everyone's needsSo far they only have two tapes up for sale, releases from Gary Busdriver (electro-acoustic) and Chris Daily (solo bro). They are currently accepting demos but only through streaming links sent to their e-mail. Make sure to keep an eye out for Teflon Beast Records.

New Bass Drum Of Death Single

"Bass Drum of Death is a band from Mississippi.  John plays guitar and sings and Colin plays the drums.  Together they make blown-out, blazing songs.  They are set to release their debut LP GB City on Fat Possum Records.  John was Fat Possum's worst employee 3 years ago. He wrote and recorded the whole record himself  using just a drumset, a guitar, a usb microphone, a computer, and a shitload of talent.  The songs are about drugs, trying to make it with religious girls, panic attacks, stealing stuff, mild to severe depression, Elvis appearing in your dreams and giving you advice, gravity bongs and the devil living inside your brain.  This record is the soundtrack playing in your head when you're fucked up and walking home in the middle of the night." - Fat Possum

Awesome new track called "I Dunno."  Listen

Song Of The Day

The Black Lips - Modern Art

Best New Reissue

Talk Talk, the English music group active from 1981-1991 recently reissued their stunningly beautiful fifth and final album Laughing Stock through Ba Da Bing! Records. This album took over a year to make, alienated pop fans of their earlier material, and only was appreciated with time. Talk Talk consisted of band members: Mark Hollis (Vocals), Simon Brenner (Keyboards), Lee Harris (Drums), and Paul Webb (Bass Guitar).

Starting out as a synth-pop band Talk Talk produced an enchanting, otherworldly, surprisingly gentle, but impressively moving last album. The first pressing of this rare and sought-after album goes for well over $100 online. You can now get a immaculate pressing, that has been getting all positive reviews on sound quality, for only $16. Note: I would normally post a song sample, but this is an album that needs to be appreciated all the way through. Check it out!

You can purchase the LP here: Click!

Fun Fun Fun Festival 2011

It's finally almost here, my personal favorite music festival; Fun Fun Fun Festival. It really is three times the fun as a normal festival, and this year surely won't disappoint. There will be "Three days of fun down by the shore" starting on November 4, at Auditorium Shores park. R.I.P Waterloo Park. Some of the head-liners include; Passion Pit, Lykke Li, Slayer, Danzig Legecy, Public Enemy, Odd Future, Henry Rollins, Reggie Watts the comedian, and my personal favorite Ty Segall. Head on over to www.funfunfunfest.com to see the impressive complete list of acts.

This will be my third FFF Fest bash. Infatuation comes from a variety of reasons: the intimate feeling of being able to get up close to the stage for every band, the unique list of participating bands, and the close proximity of the festival to my home. FFF Fest has always been a showcase for unheard of bands who will soon be popular and the re-uniting bands you wouldn't expect to see. Indie lovin' hipsters, hook devoted head-bobbers, granola lovin' hippies, pill popping ravers, and all the metal heads you could imagine will be there dancing their faces off. Even you would feel comfortable there. Be there.

This year there will also be quite of few aftershows which will kick off on Thursday, November 3. Aftershows are always more intimate, don't miss out!

The Strange Boys - Live Music

Out October 25 through Rough Trade Records, one of my favorite local bands return with their third studio album Live Music. Half of the album (side A) was recorded in April 2011 of producer and Spoon drummer Jim Eno, and the second half of the album (side B) was recorded in producer Mike McHugh's studio, which was the same place where their sophmore album Be Brave was recorded.

EDIT: The vinyl record distribution is delayed until November sometime.

Below, Me And You is the first single off of Live Music.
