Lost Sounds - Lost Lost Demos, Sounds, Alternate Takes & Unused Songs - LP Pre-Order

Before Jay Reatard's solo career he was in the synth-electro-punk band The Lost Sounds (among many other projects) with Alicja Trout, Rich Crook and Patrick Jordan. "Lost Lost" collects songs off the Black Wave and Rats Brains and Microchips albums and their final self-titled EP, as well as ones that never saw proper release. The rare and unheard material ranges from captivating kitchen recordings and acoustic takes to fully realized studio tracks. The album covers garage obscurities like “I Cannot Lie” and originals like “No Count”. " Lost Lost Demos, Sounds, Alternate Takes & Unused Songs" will be out on Goner Records May 15th, on CD or LP which include a bonus 7".

You can still purchase the newly released Lost Sounds - Lost Sounds 7" here for $6.00. (Limited to 900 copies). You can also still purchase the newly released Lost Sounds compilation album "Blac Static" here for $14.00 via Fat Possum Records.

Don't forget Jay's first band The Reatards re-released their first album "Teenage Hate" too. You can still buy the 2xLP here or at Goner Records for $20.25. Supposedly all the Reatards albums plan to be re-issued, keep an eye out for them!

I will update with more direct links to Goner's website soon. Goner's website is down at the moment. Check back for pre-order dates and links!

Allah Las - Tell Me (What's On Your Mind) - Video and 7"

The new 7" single "Tell Me (What's On Your Mind) b/w Sacred Sands" from the Allah Las is now available through Innovative Leisure. $7.99 plus $5.00 in the US. So good!

Innovative Leisure also has an 8" record available from Nick Waterhouse & Allah Las, entitled "Don't You Forget It." It is being sold for $9.99 plus $5.00 shipping.

As Nick Waterhouse explains it, "I had a mixtape of a couple of songs that Pedrum (of the Allah-Las) had handed to me. He had a song on there called "Don't You Forget It" and I used the lyrics from his song in the music bed of a song that I was composing." What came out was the single "Don't You Forget It" that Waterhouse recorded for his upcoming LP Time's All Gone. Hear both his version and a completely different Allah-Las version on this next installment in the INNOV8 series.

King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard - Willoughby's Beach EP

King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard is some killer garage surf- sludge from Melbourne, Australia. The band states they were brought together through a share house in Carlton and a mutual love of Pavement, Thee Oh Sees and Nuggets Comps. Thanks to HeroKid for the recommendation.

Their first track 'Black Tooth' has been summarized: "it opens with a burst of machine gun guitars before replacing the fury with some old fashioned malice in the guise of a surf-slicked riff - but there ain't no pina coladas and high-titted broads in bikinis here friends - just broken boards jutting out of the sand and blood under the nails. Fuzz vocals and a deadly accurate percussive attack fill out the picture in lurid, dripping, neon-lit detail. Mixing the sex of The Velvet Underground, the interstellar wonder of the 13th Floor Elevators and the sheer hostility of The Monks and The Stooges."

You can order Willoughby's Beach EP here, for $20. The 10" record is a fezzy transparent yellow colourThe package includes a double-sided square photo insert with album lyrics and liner notes and an individual photo personally signed by the band. When you buy this product from Bandcamp you will also get an automatic download of the EP. The EP is limited to 350 copies only.

Killer stuff!

The Flaming Lips and New Fumes - Girl, You're So Weird

"Look at me, I'm mass producing music in a gimmicky way." Just my opinion. Enjoy some nakedness.

Ty Segall Band - Slaughterhouse - Double 10" Gatefold

Ty Segall has a new release coming out June 26 via In The Red Records. Not too much information has been released about this album yet. Although, the album is supposed to be recorded by Ty Segall's full band,(Mikal Cronin, Charlie Moothart, and Emily Rose Epstein) instead of the usual only Ty production. On the In The Red website they have officially labeled the release as the "Ty Segall Band."

"Slaughterhouse" will be released on both 10" LP (2x10" Gatefold) and CD. The LP release will not be limited on black wax, but there will be a small undetermined run on CLEAR wax.

You can check the status of the pre-order here, and once it's available it will be sold here.

EDIT: In The Red stated the release will be available June 26, but Insound is saying the release will be available July 17th. Pre-order for standard black issue can be bought here at Insound, for $19.98 plus shipping.

Slaughterhouse Tracklist:
01 Death
02 I Bought My Eyes
03 Slaughterhouse
04 The Tongue
05 Tell Me What's Inside Your Heart
06 Wave Goodbye
07 Muscle Man
08 That's the Bag I'm In
09 Diddy Wah Diddy
10 Oh Mary
11 Fuzz War

It also looks like In The Red Records are re-pressing these two fine Ty Segall records also. Ty accompanied by Mikal Cronin originally released "Reverse Shark Attack" through Kill Shaman Records, and it was limited to 1000 copies. Then also, The Traditional Fools - S/T Lp, which was originally released on Wizard Mountain will be re-pressed. This was originally pressed on both white and black wax and was limited. These were starting to get pricey on ebay, so it's nice to see a re-release finally. No release dates announced for these, but they are coming soon!

EDIT: After E-mailing In The Red they said: "We are going to be doing a limited edition in colored vinyl with "Reverse Shark Attack". Apart from that it'll be pretty much the same in production."

Al Lover - Distorted Reverberations (of Reverberating Distortion)

Al Lover is a producer from San Francisco. Over the last few years he has gained much notoriety for his melding of garage and psychedelic rock into spacey boom bap style hip hop instru-mentals. Combining crunchy drums, shaky percussion, chopped samples from genres unexplored by most producers, and the use of multiple effect pedals, Al Lover has created a sound all his own.

This remix album isn't exact new or even on vinyl (unfortunately) but it contains some killer remixed garage rock tunes that have a hip-hop vibe to them. Besides this album Al Lover has created some other mention-able mix tapes. For example, a remix album of bands from the Woodsist Record label (Link), and a compilation mix of the attending bands of Austin Psych Festival 2012 (Link).

His bandcamp is here. It's all worth a listen. Check it out.

Live At Glenn Danzig's House - 4-Way Split - Bad Sports

The growing Nashville garage rock scene is something to watch. To give promps, the equally entertaining blog/website/label Nashville's Dead has some great releases under its belt. (Visit and read their blog for some great recommendations.) The meager but growing label has released 7" from bands such as: The Useless Eaters, The Paperhead, D. Watusi, Bad Sports, Sex Cult, and now a 4-way split of Denton, Texas's own Bad Sports, Cy Barkley & The Way Outsiders, D. Watusi, and The Wax Museums.

The songs for this 4-Way Split were recorded live to cassette at Glenn Danzig’s House in Nashville on July 30, 2011 – the last show at Glenn Danzig’s House. Over the last couple years, Danzig’s served as an all-ages showspace in Nashville bringing bands from all over the nation [as well as other nations] and always providing a place to party. This single is our way of paying homage. The single also brings everything full-circle because Dentons’s Bad Sports were the first and last band to ever play at the house. The single comes packaged in a 14″x14″ folded poster with an insert listing every band that played at the house.

Tracklist:

SIDE A
1. Bad Sports – Should’ve Known
2. Cy Barkley & The Way Outsiders – Object
SIDE B
3. D. Watusi – B.B.M.F.
4. The Wax Museums – Locked In The Mall

50 copies of the single were packaged in cardboard sleeves with different photo prints on each copy from a different show at Glenn Danzig’s House. Those were sold at our Pop-Up Shop during The Freakin’ Weekend III.
500 on black vinyl // 50 with alternate sleeves

You can listen to samples of the 7" here, and purchase for only $5.
