Fidlar - No Waves - DIYDUI
Why didn't listen to this earlier? I like totally spaced out, ooorr something. Band descriptions are over-rated. Who want's to do a lot of reading anyways? Fidlar is from Los Angeles, California and they play garage rock. Listen to the music, make up your own mind. Looks like they have two EP's out. "No Waves b/w No Ass 7" and a 4-song EP entitled "DIYDUI." You can buy their No Waves 7" here through Insound, $6.99. Buy a D.D. of "DIYDUI" here, but really, who ever buys a Digital Download?

The Soft Pack - Tallboy
It's great to finally hear some new material from The Soft Pack. Maybe it's me but it seemed like they toured the shit out of their first self-titled album. Well it's time to move on, their new album is entitled "Strapped" and it's out on September 25th through the excellent Mexican Summer Records. In the meantime while you wait for the album to drop you can hear their new track entitled "Tallboy." Also check out their previously released new song "Saratoga."

Allah Las - S/T - LP Pre-Order
Wow! It's finally here. California based Allah Las' debut full-length album on vinyl. This has been one of my most highly anticipated albums of 2012. After hearing their first singles "Catamaran" and "Long Journey" I was hooked. Catching them at this years SXSW music festival here in Austin, Texas I wasn't let down one bit either.
The Allah Las are produced by Nick Waterhouse (who you should also check out as well) and run through his label Innovative Leisure Records. At the moment this self-titled album is only available through Insound. Cost to you is $17.99 plus $4.99 UPS shipping for the US. Purchase here.
Highly recommended!

Ty Segall - The Hill b/w Mother Lemonade 7" - Pre-Order
Ty Segall is back at it, releasing his first single "The Hill" off of the forthcoming album entitled "Twins." The Hill b/w Mother Lemonade has an official release date of September 4, 2012, while the full length is out October 9, 2012 through Drag City Records. No colored vinyl editions or alternate versions announced yet. Drag City tends to keep that information hush-hush. Stay tuned.
"Like an echo from a desperate, war-torn future, Ty Segall’s latest cry of love crashes the party and detonates without warning on the drink-soaked dance floor. Female voices ricochet, deadpanning from ear to ear. Fuzzy thunders reels on high, thudding slam into your life-chest and rolling out the door. Like a quicksilver wire at the center, Ty’s voice seethes you as the unseen craft whirls closer. These are the bong-bursts of tomorrow, flown into our so-called “today” (for what is “time”?) as a global warning.
“Mother Lemonade” is a fun-ish, sun-ish flip-side anthem specific to this single, but you can't hear that one until you buy it on September 4th! " - DCR.
You can purchase The Hill b/w Mother Lemonade here, for $6.00/free shipping.

Jacco Gardner - Where Will You Go - Video
"Allow us to introduce the US debut of 24-year old Dutch multi-instrumentalist Jacco Gardner - prepare to have your minds blown. After releasing a criminally limited 7-inch in Europe earlier in 2012, Gardner returns with a brand-new, double dose of hits for Trouble In Mind. "Where Will You Go"s opening guitar strums fade into view before lurching into a dreamy baroque-pop groover, with lush melodies cascading over a driving drum beat, conjuring images of Syd jamming with Revolver-era Beatles." - T.I.M.
The first pressing of 500 copies is pressed on randomly mixed vinyl, comes housed in the Trouble In Mind company sleeve, & includes a download code.
I'm a sucker for Syd Barrett influenced music. Grab your copy for $ 5.50 here at Trouble In Mind Records.

Rayon Beach - This Looks Series LP & Cassette
I hope y'all are paying attention to Rayon Beach. Yeah, I said it. Austin, Texas' own Thomas Sutherland, Mike Naccarato, Rachael Scherr of Rayon Beach are rising in the "garage rock" scene. Their sophomore release "This Looks Series" has representation from Hozac Records for their LP and Burger Records for their Cassette. First serving a (random) amount of 168 "Gold Editions," Hozac Records will then ship a standard black wax edition of 550. Thus LP can be purchased here, and well their Cassette version of 250 copies is Sold Out! You should have been paying attention!

Lace Curtains - The Garden Of Joy And The Well Of Loneliness - LP Order
Lace Curtains is Michael Coomer from Austin, Texas, who was in the band Harlem. From what I've heard so far from this debut solo album it might possibly be my future personal favorite album of 2012. Croomer has gained attention of Stereogum, Gorilla Vs. Bear, and even Pitchfork with this new release (links to his reviews).
"The Garden Of Joy And The Well Of Loneliness" was released on July 25th and can be sampled and purchased through his Tumblr page. $15.00 gets you a piece of black wax from Female Fantasy Records. Buy here. Soo So Fucking Good!!!

Ty Segall Band - Slaughterhouse - Review
"Slaughterhouse" is a group
project album. This can't be classified as your typical Ty Segall
solo production. It's contributions from Emilie, Mikal, and Charlie
are apparent within. If you've ever seen the Ty Segall Band live you
will know what to expect on "Slaughterhouse." A fast tempo,
agressive, in-your-face performance, and this album also brings just
that.
The stand out track is of course "Wave
Goodbye," as even Ty agrees with everyone on the end of the
track with the statement: "Fuck Yeah!" In a close second is
the song "Mary Ann," then the song "I Bought My Eyes".
With the songs "I Bought My Eyes"
and "Muscle Man" and even "Tell Me What's Inside Your
Heart" I can't help but hear the Mikal Cronin contributions
within the harmonies. They are similar to portions of Cronin's self
titled album, and I haven't heard them on Ty's other albums. A
specific example is the "ooooh, oooohh, ohhhhh" harmonies
on Cronin's song "Get Along."
Many of the reviews so far on the album
have been comparing "Slaughterhouse" to the band "Hawkwind" and to "Iggy Pop." The Iggy Pop reference
rings true to me most notably on the song "That's The Bag Im
In." I hear the agressive raw-power angst.
Upon hearing about the closing 10
minute 23 second song I was excited to hear an epic guitar battle. I
was pretty disappointed to hear a psychedic(-ish) orgy of drawn-out
power chords. This song should be in some movie background with
slow-motion hippies drug out of their minds, not on this album.
This is not Ty Segall's best, but it's Ty Segall's Band(s) best so far. I can't express really how much
I like or dislike this album yet. It's new, it's different, it's Ty
Segall, therefore it's good!?
