Austin, Texas will soon welcome Teflon Beast Records, an all cassette tape label. TBR was founded by Jeff Daily, his wife Keegan and his brother Chris in August 2011 as an outlet for their own music and music by their uniquely talented friends. After years of disappointment with CDs and the price of vinyl manufacturing too high to justify pressings in the current economy, the decision was made to go back to the medium of their youths, tape. The physicality, division of sides, and ability to contain music from a few minutes to a few hours in length make cassettes the ideal format for releasing the varied styles of music that TBR represents. All TBR tapes are handcrafted art objects as well as great pieces of music to be enjoyed by all.
From folk to noise to pop they will be catering to everyone's needs. So far they only have two tapes up for sale, releases from Gary Busdriver (electro-acoustic) and Chris Daily (solo bro). They are currently accepting demos but only through streaming links sent to their e-mail. Make sure to keep an eye out for Teflon Beast Records.
