Bruise Cruise Single Series

Earlier I reported on the Bruise Cruise Festival, which is a three day tropical rock extravaganza from  Miami, Florida, to Nassau, Bahamas, and back. From February 10-13 patrons enjoy casinos, pools, miniature golf, water parks, fine dining, all you can eat buffets, and most importantly you get to party with and get entertained by 14 rock bands and 1 comedian (Neil Hamburger).

Lineup includes: Fucked Up, King Khan and The Shrines, Thee Oh Sees, The Soft Pack, The Dirtbombs, Quintron and Miss Pussycat, Mikal Cronin, The Togas, Vockah Redu, Jello Biafra, Anna Seregina, Kyp Malone, DJ Mr. Johnathon Toubin, and a DJ set from The Vivian Girls.

Along with the cruise, patrons also receive free 7" singles of participating bands. This years contributors are from Thee Oh Sees, Mikal Cronin, King Khan and The Shrines, Quintron & Miss Pussycat, The Dirtbombs, F*cked Up, and Neil Hamburger.

Personally I was a little disappointed with this years series. Three music splits and one comedic 7". Last year they also had 4 splits, but in my opinion, of better bands. Buy last years singles. They should have made records of all particapating bands! This years 7"s were all pressed on black vinyl, compared to last years colored.

I purchased the King Khan and The Shrines/Mikal Cronin Split 7" & Thee Oh Sees/Quintron & Miss Pussycat Split 7" today at a increased price of $9.99 (more expensive than last year.) I don't think I'm even interested in the Dirtbombs/F*cked Up 7". The King Khan/Mikal Cronin split I recommend, but the Oh See's song was more of a weird rant, and the Quintron & Miss Pussycat song was from the weaker vocalist Miss Pussycat. And finally, why would I want a 7" of a comedian telling one 2-minute joke? No thanks.

No siting of the 7"s for sale officially on there website, but they have been poping up at local record stores and on ebay/discogs. All singles are limited to 500 copies. Expect to see a flurry of singles on ebay in the following couple days with cruise patrons returning from sea.
